The successful candidate 

  • Communicates effectively across the whole organisation, has the ability to form strong arguments and gravitas to participate in forums at all levels including with regulators and other third party stakeholders 
  • Understands all the elements of financial policy and in-country regulation 
  • Cuts through the detail with strong financial acumen, ability to analyse financial data and provide an overview of loan proposals, and provide constructive advice and innovative solutions to meet client needs within risk appetite 
  • Executes the long-term goals to manage credit strategy, policy and risk appetite 
  • Collaborates across functions with all stakeholders particularly with CRO and broader team 
  • Takes a pragmatic and process-oriented approach to problem solving and generates ideas, delivering within tight timescales 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • The Senior Credit Risk Officer is responsible for providing support, direction, credit information and loan policies and procedures to ensure the overall quality of the Banks’ credit extension. 
  • Responsible for the application of the credit policies and procedures and compliance with the applicable regulations and laws, credit risk, produce and program management 
  • Ensure that the business development and relationship management (Client Advisors) understands and develops business in line with the Banks’ credit guidelines 
  • Oversee the production and maintenance of the portfolio database and reports 
  • Ensure Compliance with Committee Charters and Credit policies and procedures 
  • Provide credit sanctioning for credit applications within the incumbent’s approval authority; organize, analyse and recommend credit applications for other transactions to be approved at higher echelons of the organization (local and Group credit committees as may be appropriate) 
  • Take an active role in the ongoing enhancement of the credit principles, policy and guidelines across the organization 
  • Take a leadership role in local governance committees (e.g. local credit committees)  
  • Establish efficient relationships with multiple stakeholders across the firm (e.g. CRO, senior client advisors, Lending Originators) 
  • Take an active role in the management and resolution of watchlist cases while working to reduce the volume and number of non-performing exposures 

 

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Proven and deep relevant experience (10-15 years) in a credit and/or risk role within financial services and/or wealth management sector 
  • Exposure to complex and structured transactions  
  • Proven analytical, decision making and execution skills 
  • Expert negotiator in transaction structuring and credit approval 
  • Ability to succinctly summarize transactions and present them in an organized manner 
  • Team leadership experience 
  • Change management experience and knowledge of project management preferred 
  • Knowledge of credit risk portfolio management

  • Able to cut through complexity and prioritise tasks 
  • Methodical, concise and accurate, with strong attention to detail 

 

Technical Skills

 

  • Masters or University degree ideally in either Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Economics 
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification (desirable) 

Languages Skills

 

  • English (fluent) is a requirement
